RULES FOR VISITORS

As with all NASCAR events, spectators attending the Food City 500 at Bristol Motor Speedway must follow the rules established by the organizers. These guidelines help maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for everyone at the track. Security personnel are present throughout the venue and may conduct checks at the entrance gates.

Prohibited items

For safety reasons, certain items are not allowed inside the Speedway. Objects that could cause injury, disturb other fans, or present a safety risk are strictly prohibited. This also includes merchandise or tickets intended for unauthorized resale.

All visitors must pass through security screening before entering the venue. Anyone refusing inspection may be denied entry without a refund. It is recommended to review the official Bristol Motor Speedway prohibited items list before arriving to avoid any issues at the gates.

The list below highlights some of the most commonly restricted items (this list may not include every prohibited object):

  • Aerosol cans – except sunscreen, sunblock, hand sanitizer, and insect repellent.
  • Bags – larger than 18" x 18" x 14".
  • Beer balls, beer bongs, and funnels.
  • Bicycles, hoverboards, roller blades, roller skates, Segways, or skateboards.
  • Chairs – collapsible chairs of any type.
  • Confederate flags – including flags, clothing, banners, or similar items.
  • Coolers – larger than 14" x 14" x 14", or any hard-sided or foam coolers.
  • Dry ice.
  • Fires, fireworks, grills, or sky lanterns.
  • Glass or ceramic containers.
  • Golf carts or ATV-type vehicles without proper permits.
  • Helium balloons, beach balls, frisbees, or other throwable objects.
  • Illegal substances.
  • Knives – longer than 3 inches when closed or longer than 6 inches when open.
  • Laser pointers, noisemakers, and air horns.
  • Obscene or offensive clothing.
  • Pets – except registered service animals.
  • Radios – without headphones or headsets.
  • Scaffolding or raised platforms.
  • Selfie sticks, tripods, or monopods.
  • Smoking – including e-cigarettes and vaping devices in grandstands or suites.
  • Stadium seats – wider than 17 inches or with armrests.
  • Sticks of any kind – including flag poles or broom handles.
  • Umbrellas.
  • Drones or any unmanned aerial vehicles.
  • Utility tools with blades longer than 3 inches, ice picks, or similar tools.
  • Video cameras.
  • Wagons or carts.
  • Weapons of any kind, including firearms or knives, exceeding permitted limits, regardless of permits.

What you can bring

To make your visit to the Food City 500 easier, it is recommended to pack only the essentials. Bring your mobile phone, a portable charger or spare camera batteries, some cash, and your tickets for each day of attendance. Adults should carry a valid photo ID, and it is advisable to have identification for children as well.

Traveling light will help you move through security checks more quickly and allow you to spend more time enjoying the race weekend.

The following items are allowed inside the Speedway:

  • Bags – up to two bags per person. Each bag must not exceed 18" x 18" x 14". One bag may be a cooler with a maximum size of 14" x 14" x 14".
  • Blankets and clothing – additional layers or blankets for comfort during the event.
  • Cameras, binoculars, scanners, and headsets – for personal use only and small enough to carry on a belt, around the neck, or inside a bag.
  • Collapsible umbrella strollers – allowed for guests with children, provided they do not block aisles or seating areas.
  • Flags – approved flags attached to a pencil-sized wooden stick that do not obstruct the view of other spectators.
  • Food and beverages – pre-packaged food and drinks in a bag or soft-sided cooler, including alcoholic beverages. Glass containers are not permitted.
  • Hand sanitizer, sunscreen, and insect repellent – allowed in aerosol, gel, or liquid form.
  • Insulated cups – up to a capacity of 64 ounces.
  • iPads, tablets, and laptops – for personal use.
  • Seat cushions – without armrests.
  • Service animals – allowed throughout the Speedway, provided they remain leashed or harnessed and under control.
  • Small banners, signs, and flags – within the permitted size limit of 36" x 60".
